Promoting Stewardship
Protecting the
Environment
|
This farm, our orchard, has been verified by the Michigan Agricultural Environmental Assurance
Program because we want to prevent and minimize agricultural pollution risks.
On our farm, we:
- Identified environmental risks
- Took steps to prevent pollution
- complied with state and federal environmental regulations.
This three-step process involved:
- Education
- On-farm risk assessment
- Third party verification
The Michigan Agricultural Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP) is a coalition of farmers,
commodity groups, state and federal agencies and conservation groups. While the Michigan Department of Agriculture
verifies the process, MAEAP is a voluntary process, not a regulatory program.
|
We are proud to have taken these steps because Michigan's natural resources are important to all of
us. |
