Promoting Stewardship

Protecting the Environment

This farm, our orchard, has been verified by the Michigan Agricultural Environmental Assurance Program  because we want to prevent and minimize agricultural pollution risks.

On our farm, we:

  • Identified environmental risks
  • Took steps to prevent pollution
  • complied with state and federal environmental regulations.

This three-step process involved:

  • Education
  • On-farm risk assessment
  • Third party verification

The Michigan Agricultural Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP) is a coalition of farmers, commodity groups, state and federal agencies and conservation groups. While the Michigan Department of Agriculture verifies the process, MAEAP is a voluntary process, not a regulatory program.

We are proud to have taken these steps because Michigan's natural resources are important to all of us.
